THE HUNTER VALLEY DANCE CENTRE 2020 INFORMATION

TERM DATES: 

Term 1: Monday 3rd February - Thursday 9th April. 

Term 2: Monday 27th April - Saturday 4th July.

Term 3: Monday 20th July - Saturday 26th September.

Term 4: Monday 12th October - Saturday 5th December.

 

HALL ADDRESSES:

Polish Hall, 6 Grant St, Maitland (at the rear of the Maitland Town Hall).

Largs School of Arts, Largs Ave Largs (opposite the Hotel).

Linuwel School Hall, 133 Morpeth Rd East Maitland.

Catholic Hall, Corner of George St & James St Morpeth

 

Adult Ballet will be held on Tuesday evenings 6.15 - 7.30. The level will be determined by the participants. The first 15 minutes are stretch and strength training. (Yoga mat required).

 

Dance and Movement for over 55 is a Dance and Movement class designed for health and wellbeing, incorporating the grace of ballet, the fun of Broadway Jazz and gentle seated stretching. It will be held on Tuesday mornings at Largs 11.15 - 12.15. Special price for pensioners will be $12 per class.

 

Dance For Parkinson’s is a specialised dance class for people with Parkinson’s disease and mobility issues, which Mikola Lee and I run together on Friday at the Catholic Church Hall in Morpeth.                  

 

CONCERT & DRESS REHEARSAL:

The concert will be held on SATURDAY OCTOBER 31ST, 2020.We will once again be at Cessnock Performing Arts Centre.

All students are eligible to take part in the annual concert, but must attend classes regularly throughout the year and be committed to attend the compulsory Dress Rehearsal  during the weeks prior to the concert (dates to be advised).

 

COSTUME HIRE remains at $35 for 1st costume and $20 for subsequent ones and is payable at the beginning of Term 3.

 

Classes are subject to change depending on numbers.

Attendance needs to be punctual and regular.

A water bottle needs to brought to each class.

Parents of new students or anxious students may watch the class, but I encourage you to wait in the kitchen area or outside on the verandah (at Linuwel) to allow for better concentration and to build confidence in the children. Siblings need to be supervised.

If students are discontinuing classes or will be absent for more than two weeks, please advise your class teacher.

 

PRIVATE LESSONS can be arranged on a weekly/ fortnightly or occasional basis. Homeschooled children can arrange a suitable time that is not currently in the timetable.

 

 

 

 

 

BALLET EXAMS will be held in Maitland in 2021, but parents may arrange for their child to attend the Sydney session in August/September 2020. You will need to discuss this with your class teacher.

Students who are in Grade 2 or above are strongly encouraged to attend more than one ballet class per week, in order to achieve the strength and knowledge to progress through the grades. Technique classes are held on Saturdays for Juniors and Seniors.

 

UNIFORM needs to be worn to class with hair neat and tidy in a bun.

Uniform  is available at FLIGHT DANCE STORE in GEORGE ST, EAST MAITLAND (opposite The Windsor Hotel).

 

OPEN DAY will be held during the last week of terms 1, 2 and 3 when parents may watch a class in progress.

 

SAFETY: Parents need to ensure their child is picked up from the hall, not in car parks or on the street. Siblings need to be supervised in and around the halls..

 

FEES  remain the same and are set out below & are payable at the beginning of each term and include GST. A 10% discount is available for siblings for term fees only (not admin fee). Payment in instalments is welcome. 

I am also a member of LETS which is a local cashless trading system. It is a broad barter system and students may pay in this manner also. Although admin & concert expenses are usually done with $. If you are interested in this please check it out online at Hunter LETS. Also some parents may barter directly. 

 

ANNUAL ADMIN/ENROLMENT  FEE  remains at  $40 per calendar year per student and is charged when the student commences classes to cover the cost of insurance and licences.
